Have you received a deposition sync file where it starts on page 2? You don’t need a new sync file. You can fix it.
NOTE: Your designations will not shift, they will remain the same numbers and lines you created originally.
On the menu, select Tools and then Sync & Edit Transcripts

Click Choose Transcript and select the transcript you would like to edit.

Now that your transcript is loaded, click on the pencil in the upper right corner.

The Edit Transcript Text window will open.

Click on the Actions Button.

Shift Page Numbers - This shifts page numbers for the entire transcript backward or forward.
Backward... Have designations that say testimony starts on page 8 but on your version of the transcript they start on page 9. You both have transcripts that start with page 1? Using shift backward to keep page 1 and adds all the lines from original page 2 to page one. Making the beginning of page 2 your original 3. Pictures make is clear.

You can see that the testimony of the original started on page 7–now it starts on page 6.

Forward…
This one’s a little easier. Your transcript starts on page 1. Theirs starts on page 2. You can shift all your page numbers by 1.

Shift Line Numbers - This shifts line numbers for the entire transcript backwards forwards. This is not recommended unless you really know what the issue is. Often line numbers are out of alignment with the sync files because a rough transcript was synced and the official transcript now has more or less words per line. This means that line number shifting can vary in a transcript and is not a set number.
Backward…
Let’s say there are somehow extra lines on the transcript your people are working with. So instead of testimony starting on page 7 line 14, their version starts on page 7 line 9. Using shift backward to keep page 1 and adds the number of lines from page 2. In the pictures below shifting 5 lines, make page 1 have 30 lines and now the testimony starts on page 7 line 9.

Lines from page 2 move up and the line numbers shift.

Forward...
Shift lines forward, puts blank lines on how ever many lines you need to get your testimony to start where you want it. This only puts blank lines on the first page to shift all the testimony down.
This picture is of page 7 where the testimony starts. Notice the testimony starts on line 14.

When I set my line shift to 3:

Notice the text shifts down 3 lines.

Now the testimony starts on page 17.
