Setup command line reference:
/help
/install I /repair I /uninstall I /layout - installs, repairs, uninstalls or creates a complete local copy of the bundle in directory. Install is the default.
/passive I /quiet - displays minimal UI with no prompts or displays no UI and no prompts. By default UI and all prompts are displayed.
/norestart - suppress any attempts to restart. By default UI will prompt before restart. /log log.ixt - logs to a specific file. By default a log file is created in %TEMP%.
MSI command line reference:
INSTALLLOCATION - path to installation directory, e.g., D:\Programs\OnCue
Example:
msiexec /i OnCueSetup.msi /qb /l* log.txt INSTALLLOCATION=D:\Programs\OnCue
(note: TARGETDIR also works the same as INSTALLLOCATION)
OnCue requires Windows 10 (64 bit) or Windows 11.
Minimum hardware requirements:
- 11th generation Intel i5 CPU
- 16 gb of RAM
- 500MB disk space for the application
Notes / Recommendations:
- OnCue will take full advantage of Nvidia graphics cards by offloading interface rendering as well as video exporting and decoding. Though not required, you will enjoy a much better overall experience.
- You will need enough free disk space to store a local copy of your case data on either an internal drive or an external USB drive. OnCue does not provide any cloud storage.
- OnCue may still run without meeting the above requirements, but is unsupported.
Only when you activate the program, and again when the subscription renews so the program can confirm that the license is current. In other words, if you order an annual, you can activate the program via Internet, then take the computer offline for an entire year and it will know you're good to go until the expiration date. While this is possible, we recommend checking for updates periodically which does require an internet connection. Oncue uses SSL encryption to download updates. The bottom line is, there is nothing about OnCue that requires the Internet to operate in court.
OnCue is a Windows program, but we use it on several Macbook Pros with great success. In fact lots of our customers use it exclusively on Apple hardware running windows. This is because it's such a "light" program and doesn't bog down Windows on a Mac, especially if you have relatively recent hardware.
OnCue does not accept PowerPoint, Excel, Word or other native files like those. But you can create shortcuts that you can access through OnCue. See our article Native File Notebook Shortcuts for more details.
Most of these devices are designed for PowerPoint which will advance slides using several different hotkeys including pgup and pgdn which is what the presentation clicker is sending to the computer. In order to navigate through pages in OnCue, you need the right and left arrow keys. To make it work, you can remap your “show next” and “show previous” hotkeys to be pgup and pgdn to match the clicker. If you’d rather not remap anything, the Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote uses the arrow keys by default and is overall a fantastic courtroom device in our experience.
In today's world we are not always in court and are now often running things remotely.
* In Zoom or any other Web share program - always share the screen when presenting, not the OnCue program window.
We (Users) have found that sometimes Zoom doesn't blank the screen as it should when you are presenting.
The best solution for this is to make a change in Zoom's settings:
Go to Settings/Share Screen and select Advanced at the bottom
Under Screen capture mode, choose "Legacy operating systems"
The second solution is to add a 95% black color document to OnCue as a "blank" screen and send that to Presentation when you want to blank the screen, but changing the setting in Zoom is the better option.
Yes, you can double-click on any annotation to delete it, except a text box. Double-clicking a text box makes it editable. To delete a text box, click it once to select it and then hit your delete button.
While a video is playing, if you just hit x+ID then Enter or if you are running extended desktop, find your page and hit F5, the video will move to the corner and the document will appear, you can then annotate as necessary. To go back to full screen video, hit CTRL + F.
Yes, when you have a document open, just type the page number and hit Enter.
Copy the entire case folder using Windows or any copy program (our personal favorite is Beyond Compare). All your materials are located in the OnCue case folder (if you haven’t changed any mapping) so copying the entire folder will copy everything.
You can, and people do successfully every day. But you do need to take precautions. Unlike when you're on a local network, where multiple people can work on the same database simultaneously, the nature of those Cloud services mean if more than one person is using the database at the same time it will create a conflicted copy of the database. So if you're collaborating in OnCue with a colleague using a shared cloud folder, make sure that only one person has OnCue open at a time.
Absolutely. Multiple users can work in the same database at the same time as long as it is located on a shared network drive and not a cloud service like Dropbox, Box, or OneDrive.
Yes, yes you can. OnCue utilizes reductive searching, so when you start typing and OnCue starts making your list shorter.
OnCue currently imports Sanction MDB sync files and Timecoder *.cms and converts them to xml. Once converted and in the case structure, these xml synched transcripts can also be added to new cases.
As long as you have an active subscription, you can put OnCue on as many different machines as you'd like, but only two can be active at the same time. If you'd like to activate on a third machine and two other machines already are in use, you just have to click the "manage license" button choose the machine you would like to deactivate.
There is a link to your subscription where you can easily update payment info or cancel on your original email that contained the activation code, as well as every email you receive about credit card charges. You do not need to contact us or log into the OnCue website. If you can't find any of your automated emails with subscription info links, we'll be happy to help.
Deactivating your license does not cancel the subscription.
You can't convert old cases to–or open old cases in–the current version of OnCue. The two programs have too many differences to cleanly open an old case. Cases need to be rebuilt in the current version, with the exception of Designation Lists. Those can be exported via XML and imported via XML to your new case.
You will have access to OnCue 3 to open cases created in it for the foreseeable future.
We have a monitored messaging system. You can call 844.826.7277. Your very best bet is emailing support@oncuetech.com. Calling never results in a faster resolution so only call if you have extra time.
Right-click and optimize it.
What does Clear Viewer on the Viewer Pane do? Well, it does NOT unsplit nor do anything but make sure the viewer is blank. A good thing to have perhaps if you are seated with your back to the jury or have some curious people looking over your shoulder to see what you are bringing up next. You can bring up a doc, clear the viewer and still publish what you have behind the cleared viewer.
